Dumbara Estate
 

Dumbara Estate is situated in the Ratnapura district, 6Km from the town of Ingiriya. The Estate is a mixed crop estate with both rubber and tea. The cultivation area covers 403 hectares (995 acres) of rubber and 63.75 hectares (157 acres) of tea. Dumbara Estate produces 240,000Kg of latex and 270,000Kg of tea per annum. The production process of the Estate is facilitated by two factories, one for rubber and the other for tea. The rubber factory has a production capacity of 6,800Kg for naturally dried rubber every 7 days and 5,450Kg for artificially dried rubber every 3 days. The tea factory, together with the Estate crop plus purchased green leaf, has a production capacity of 7,000Kg of green leaf per day.

The Estate land originally belonged to the Nadun Rajamaha Viharaya-Kiriella, which in turn leased the land out for crop cultivation. Planting and cultivation of tea and rubber began in 1929 under the management of James Company Ltd. and later on by Whitol Boustered Estates Ltd. In 1975 the Estate was vested by the Land Reform Commission Act, and managed by the Sri Lanka State Plantation Corporation till the handing over the Estate to Regional Plantation Company (RPC) Horana Plantation PLC.
